Karou

Karou is a small village located on the southwest side of Sisa, and Konoe's hometown. The village still has a fair amount of residents, however from an outside view it was just houses and it was rare to see other cats outside making it seem very silent and deserted.

History

Historically in Karou, the male cats were raised from birth to be strong fighters. Due to this, many of the adult males in Karou are Tougas. However, after the arrival of The Void, this practice became less and less common as just surviving took most of the villagers strength.

After The Void eroded more areas of the forest around Karou and The Sickness began to take the lives of more and more females, the behaviors and the mindsets of the villagers of Karou changed and are now very self serving, and rarely helped or looked out for anyone else if it didn't serve a purpose for them as well. Even if someone else was screaming, the other villagers would not exit their own homes. Konoe believes that they may even wish for the death of other villagers in order to combat the starvation they are facing.

In addition, Karou enacted a rule where when food supply was depleted and villagers were starving, an elder from the village would choose a cat from the village to kill in a ritual and cannibalize them, calling that cat a "sacrifice" and saying it was their duty.
